So when is summer vacation?

I can not believe school starts soon. It seems like summer is flying by. Yesterday we had a spaghetti lunch at the church. I hadn’t planned on helping out too much, but I ended up working the whole time.  My feet are killing me today thanks to 4 hours standing in high heels. We went to a birthday party for Rosie’s friend in the afternoon and then to my grandparent’s hotel to swim in the evening. Overall a very, very busy day.

Grace stayed the night last night. She’s going to help watch the kids for us today and keep them busy for us so we can do some work around the house. I have to do a crazy amount of laundry today. I’ve been letting it slip for way too long. If I can convince the kids to put away all their toys so that I can find the floor, I’m going to vacuum the whole house, even the stairs. If I can get those 2 things done today, I will consider it to be a great day. Although I’d much rather be sipping a margarita while lounging on the beaches of some tropical island. A girl can dream can’t she?

*cough cough*

We’re supposed to go swimming today at my mom’s. We also need to get a birthday present for one of Rosie’s friends. At some point I need to do laundry, vacuum, and declutter the house a little.  The only problem is that I still feel super crappy. This cough is never-ending and it’s sucking the life out of me. I am so tired.  Maybe a pot of coffee will help get me going?

Lazy Sunday

I only got about 4 hours sleep last night thanks to this lovely cough I have developed, so we skipped church this morning. My plan for the day is to relax. This cough needs to go away and maybe some rest will help. I might throw some laundry into the mix just because it needs to be done., but other than that it’s gonna be a lazy day.

Rosie decided to wear her “party dress” with “tinkerbell hair” today. She says it will help her to be a good girl today. Yesterday was rough for her. She whined, threw fits, lied to us, and beat up her brother. We had a family meeting and laid out some new rules and consequences for her. Today is her first day with the new set up and so far she is doing good. The real test will be to see if her behavior improves and stays good even after the novelty of our new “program” starts to wear off.

It’s so bright and sunny out right now. I think maybe we should take advantage of this and head outside for a bit.

Never enough

First of all, WHY AM I ALWAYS SICK? Seriously. Again with the being sick. It’s getting old.

Secondly, Rosie has completely forgotten about the shots thanks to my trick. The trick is to ditch the bandaids asap because to her bandaid = mortal danger. Today she is far more concered with her “dog”, Paco. Apparently he has already died “so many times because he keeps playing and then he gets dead”. No worries though, Doctor Malachi has been successful in reviving him every time.

Third, why is there never enough room? Now that I am trying to unpack some stuff, I’m finding that there is nowhere for it to go. I think is why our house is always so cluttered. Too much stuff, not enough storage. We need to get some shelving up above our desk, in our closet, and in the pantry. I think that would give us plenty of space. Until then though, where the heck am I supposed to put these things?

Checkup 2

They are so flippin big now. Rosealyn is only .75in and 2lbs bigger than Malachi. The boy is massive. Both are in the 90th percentile for height/weight. The doctor gave me some first aid tips for Malachi so I don’t rush him to an E.R. every time he falls. He said he is a bit more active and reckless than other kids his age but that he seems bright and hopefully will learn to look before he leaps soon. Rosie has mild exzema. Nothing major, I just have to make sure to put lotion on her everyday and cortisone cream when she gets itchy. The lump on her neck is still nothing to be worried about. He said it should go away eventually on its own. Poor Rosie had to get 3 shots today. It was her worst freak out ever. Not fun. Now she is walking around like an old crippled woman or just lying in bed with her legs propped up on a pillow “resting because the shots make me sick”.  She is such a trip.

Checkup

The kids have a checkup this morning. I think Rosie will be getting shots, which is a bummer. I’m not sure if I should prepare her or not. Malachi is excited about going. Rosie thinks she is sick lol. I love  seeing how much they have grown in a year!

Super bad allergies, or illness? That is the question. I feel a bit zomie-ish today.  Everything from the neck up is stuffy and hurty. Bleh.

Rosie is demanding to go to school A.S.A.P. She doesn’t want to wait until August. She doesn’t care that Mal and I will miss her. She fully understands that she will be left there and picked up later. She wants to go NOW. In her princess dress. Too cute.

Malachi does not want to go anywhere. He loves mommy and he loves his trains. He wants to stay at home and play. No school for him. Mommy will be sad if he leaves.  So thoughtful.

My kids are so awesome.

Clean it up

Yesterday was bad day for many reasons. I ended up getting absolutely nothing done, and the kids succeeded in making the house look worse than the day before. I hate it when that happens. Today the house will be reclaimed. One way or another, it will be clean and tidy.  Or at least cleaner and tidier. We’re not aiming for perfection here.

Oh me, oh my!

Have you ever gotten so into a project, that you lose all sense of time and physical limitation? That was me today. I decided it was time to finally start organizing my bedroom, which to date is the most neglected room in the house. The plan was to clear off all surfaces and empty drawers so that Mike could move the REALLY heavy furniture for me when he got home. Key word here being MIKE. Instead I got so excited and into what I was doing that I thought to myself, “Hey, this stuff isn’t THAT heavy. I could probably move most of it myself.” And that is exactly what I did. I moved the dresser (full of clothes, mind you), the huge solid wood desk, and the storage cabinet with a small bit of help from Grace. Not to mention moving 3 large boxes around the room as well. (I also organized my massive quantities of yarny goodness, but let’s not talk about that. Mike and I discussed it at length this evening and I’ve decided to pretend that if you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.) Anyway, it was all done by the time Mike got home. He was quite surprised. You’re probably thinking,”Wow, that’s awesome! You go girl! Great job!” Thank you, I appreciate that. However, it was STUPID. Very. very, very stupid. I pushed my poor weak back to its very limits and a bit beyond. Now I am in lots of pain. Not the worst ever, but we’ll see how it is in the morning. In the spirit of avoiding a big “I told you so” or “You should know better, now what?” from Mike, I’m just trying to grin and bear it. Hopefully, I am good as new in the morning and not feeling worse. At least the view from bed will be a more neat and tidy one. :)

Summer Fun!

Now that Mike is starting to finish up his summer classes, we are finally planning our “summer break”. Mostly we’re gonna do some work around the house. Painting the living room and kitchen, painting Rosie’s room, decorating both of the kids’ rooms, organizing our room, and rearranging the living room are all on the list. I also need to get my birth certificate and social security card fixed so that I can apply for financial aid and start taking classes in the fall. We have the kids’ party coming up in a couple weeks and we’re getting Rosie ready to start school. I’m looking into a 2-3 day a week program for Malachi as well, though I have yet to find one we can afford. At some point we need to squeeze a real vacation in to use up Mike’s time off from work as well as to get a break and recharge. With very little money to spend we may just do a home vacation. Lots to do this summer. Some stressful , some fun, but all worth the effort.
